Hot-rolled steel is a specially treated steel whose production process involves rolling the steel under extremely high temperature conditions. The temperature of this process typically exceeds 1,700 degrees Fahrenheit, a temperature level well above the threshold for recrystallization of most steel materials. Recrystallization is an important concept in metal science, which refers to the fact that at a certain temperature, the grain structure inside a metal material will be rearranged, thereby changing the mechanical properties of the material. At such high temperatures, the grain structure of the steel changes significantly, making the material softer and therefore easier to shape and shape.

In order to create a hot-rolled steel product, manufacturers first need to select a large rectangular piece of metal, which is often referred to as a billet. This billet is the starting point of production, and its size and shape are chosen according to the specifications of the final product. Next, the billet is fed into a heating furnace, where it is heated to a temperature suitable for hot rolling. Through this series of rolling processes, the billet finally reaches the predetermined size of the finished product, including length, width and thickness, resulting in a hot-rolled steel product that can be used in a variety of industrial applications.

This rolling process at high temperatures not only makes the steel easier to form, but also helps to improve its microstructure, which in turn increases the strength and toughness of the material. Therefore, because of its excellent mechanical properties and relatively low production costs, hot-rolled steel has been widely used in construction, automobile manufacturing, ship construction and many other heavy industry fields.
