Hot-dip galvanized pipe is a common treatment method of steel pipe, its main purpose is to improve the corrosion resistance of steel pipe by galvanizing process. This treatment method can effectively prevent the corrosion of the steel pipe due to contact with various corrosive substances during use, thus extending its service life.
Hot dip galvanized steel pipe is mainly divided into two types: hot dip galvanized and electric galvanized. The main difference between the two methods is the process and effect of galvanizing.
Hot dip galvanizing is a process in which steel pipe is immersed in molten zinc liquid to form a zinc-iron alloy layer on the surface of the steel pipe. The characteristic of this method is that the thickness of the galvanized layer is larger, which can provide better anti-corrosion protection. However, due to the large amount of energy consumed in the hot dip galvanizing process, its production cost is relatively high.
Electrogalvanizing is a method of plating a layer of zinc on the surface of steel pipe using the principle of electrolysis. The advantage of this method is low cost, but the disadvantage is that the galvanized layer is thin and the surface may not be very smooth. Therefore, although the corrosion resistance of galvanized steel pipe is not as good as that of hot-dip galvanized steel pipe, its cost is lower, so it is still widely used in some occasions where the corrosion resistance is not high.
