Carbon steel elbow is a metal pipe that changes the direction of the pipe on a carbon steel pipe. The connection method is wired and welded. According to the Angle, there are 45° and 90°180° three most commonly used, and other abnormal Angle elbows such as 60° are also included according to engineering needs. Elbow materials are cast iron, stainless steel, alloy steel, malleable cast iron, carbon steel, non-ferrous metals and plastics.
Types of carbon steel elbow
Carbon steel elbow is first divided according to its radius of curvature, which can be divided into long radius elbows and short radius elbows. Long radius elbow refers to its radius of curvature equal to 1.5 times the outside diameter of the pipe, that is, R=1.5D. Short radius elbow means that its radius of curvature is equal to the outside diameter of the pipe, that is, R=1.0D. (D is the diameter of the bend and R is the radius of curvature. D can also be represented by multiples.) According to the pressure level, there are about 17 kinds of pipe standards, which are the same as those in the United States, including: Sch5s, Sch10s, Sch10, Sch20, Sch30, Sch40s, STD, Sch40, Sch60, Sch80s, XS; Sch80, Sch100, Sch120, Sch140, Sch160, XXS, of which the most commonly used are STD and XS two. According to the Angle of the elbow, there are 45° elbows, 90° elbows and 180° elbows. The executive standards are GB/T12459-2005, GB/T13401-2005, GB/T10752-1995, HG/T21635-1987, D-GD0219 and so on.
Carbon steel elbow process flow
Seamless elbow: The elbow is a pipe fitting for the bend of the pipe. In all the pipe fittings used in the pipeline system, the proportion is the largest, about 80%. Usually, different forming processes are selected for elbows of different materials or wall thickness. Manufacturers commonly used seamless elbow forming processes are hot push, stamping, extrusion and so on.
Hot push forming
Hot push elbow forming process is a process of using special elbow pushing machine, core die and heating device to make the blank set on the die move forward under the push of the push machine, and be heated, expanded and bent in the movement. The deformation characteristic of hot push elbow is to determine the diameter of the tube billet according to the law of constant volume before and after the plastic deformation of the metal material. The diameter of the tube billet is less than the diameter of the elbow. The deformation process of the billet is controlled by the mandrel, so that the compressed metal flow in the inner arc is compensated to other parts that are thinned due to the expansion of the diameter, so as to obtain the elbow with uniform wall thickness.
Stamping elbow is divided into cold stamping and hot stamping two, usually according to the material properties and equipment capacity to choose cold stamping or hot stamping. The forming process of the cold extrusion elbow is to use a special elbow forming machine to put the tube blank into the outer die. After the upper and lower die is closed, the tube blank moves along the gap reserved by the inner die and the outer die to complete the forming process under the push rod.
